Competitive Programs
Nanaimo Gymnastics School has a highly successful Competitive Program comprised of the Intro Competitive Program (Ages 5-8) and Women's Artistic Gymnastics Competitive Program (Ages 7+).
We strive for a high standard of performance achieved by progressive teaching and supportive coaching, allowing each child to thrive in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. All Competitive Gymnastics Programs are rewarding, yet challenging, requiring hard work, dedication, and commitment from both parents and athletes.

Women's Intro Competitive Artistic Gymnastics
Interested in joining our highly successful Competitive Programs? Start at the beginning with our Intro Competitive Programs aimed at athletes ages 5 to 8 to build a strong base that will last throughout their gymnastics career. Programs run from July to June (some summer training required in order to continue building a strong base). Commitment for the full year is expected as the athlete is introduced to the yearly schedule of skill building and
testing competitions to assess learning.
The Intro Competitive Athlete should be prepared to attend 2 to 4 testing events as part of the program curriculum, depending on age and level.

Women's Artistic Gymnastics Competitive Program
Our highly successful Women's Artistic Gymnastics Competitive Program includes athletes training at the provincial and the national level.
Entry into the Program is by assessment and invitation. Assessments are usually performed in May and athletes invited to start training in July. Competitive athletes train two to five times a week, depending on age, level and direction, and are required to commit for a full year; from July to June (some summer training mandatory). Commitments also include attendance to a minimum of 5 competitions during the Competitive Season, including some off island.
Athletes compete on all apparatus: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise, and are invited to move up in levels as they are deemed ready.
High School Competitive Gymnastics
Gymnastics is no longer available in British Columbia as a High School Sport. However, interested gymnasts may continue to compete under a club banner.

Xcel Program
Coming up the ranks in Recreational Gymnastics and wondering what steps to take next? Our Xcel Program takes athletes to the next step, teaching more advanced skills and preparing them for competition by introducing routines and Interclub competitions. Competitions showcase routines and athletes are given certificates for their achievements, highlighting positive aspects of their work. As this is an introduction to the performance aspects of competition, athletes are not judged or scored as the focus is on individual effort.
Entry into all groups is by assessment and invitation. Assessments are usually performed in May and athletes are invited to start training during the summer. Athletes train 2 times a week for a total of 6 hours and are required to commit for a full year; from July to June.
Commitment also includes attendance at a minimum of Competitions during the Competitive Season.
